125 km FROM THE SOURCE TO THE FALLS
The Lech Trail
The Lech is one of Europe’s last unspoilt rivers. Walkers follow its banks through two countries and five provinces, from the high mountains down into the alpine foreland, and can expect to encounter a diversity of nature, culture and tradition. With a total length of 125 kilometres, the Lech Trail connects five provinces and 2 countries. Consisting of 15 sections, it can be walked in seven or eight days by anyone of reasonable condition without involving any specific alpine hazards.

Long distance walking for newcomers
The “Lech Trail”, one of the ten best long distance footpaths in Europe, runs for approximately 125 kilometres through some of the last remaining unspoilt river landscapes in Europe, extending from the high mountains of the Tyrol through to the German alpine foreland by Füssen. A real advantage: its route along the river valley makes this trail ideal for newcomers to long distance walking.
What to see along the Lech Trail
There are a lot of highlights along this long distance footpath, quite apart from the joy of simply stopping by the river to relax and admire the landscape and stunning views. But the Lech Trail is not only about walking through lovely countryside: there are also numerous artistic and cultural traditions to be admired en route.
